The Shuswap Trail Legacy Fund

Walking the Talk

In building a permanent legacy fund, The Shuswap Trail Alliance will create stability for Shuswap trails for generations to come.

Trail Strategy

The Shuswap Trail Strategy is the regional multi-stakeholder initiative working to establish the entire Shuswap watershed as a united destination trail center known for its active lifestyle, vibrant culture, natural beauty, and commitment to sustainable ecology. It acknowledges that well designed, signed, maintained, and promoted, a trail network is an asset of significant economic value.

Trail Alliance

The Shuswap Trail Alliance is the organizational body (formed in 2005) through which local and regional leadership work together to develop and implement the Shuswap Trails Strategy as First Nations, stewardship, government, industry, business, and community stewardship organizations and individuals.

Trail Stewardship

Shuswap Trail Alliance Stewards are individuals and groups in the community who build, monitor or maintain trails throughout the region. The Shuswap Trail Stewards Program is a work in progress building tools and resources to assist local trail stewards. Whether you just want to get out for a walk and help flick sticks, or help to organize full on volunteer trail stewardship events, there’s a place for you!

Trail Design

The Shuswap Trail Design Standards help all the partners throughout the region provide a consistent level of quality while creating a variety of options based on trail user’s needs. They are based on Provincial standards and international best-practices, and include technical design standards, sign design style guidelines, environmental screening templates, and maintenance guidelines.
