When they moved to Salmon Arm in 1978, Rick and Linda Hirtle couldn’t have imagined what a great fit the city would be for them, and they for the city.
Both Rick and Linda graduated from UBC, he with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and Linda with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Gerry Chu offered Linda a job, and it wasn’t long before Rick was working in BDO’s Salmon Arm office.
The Shuswap was perfect for their active lifestyle, and it wasn’t long before their volunteerism took on a life of its own. Both were involved in the Tennis Club, the Salmon Arm Golf Club, and St. John’s Anglican Church. Over the years Rick was involved with the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, the College board, the Hospital board, the Shuswap Hospital Foundation board, Salmon Arm Rotary, and the Relay for life. Linda played with the Shuswap Community Band, volunteered as Treasurer at Bastion Elementary School, and was active with the grad classes when their daughters, Stephanie and Megan graduated.
Rick and Linda’s endowment supports a spectrum of causes that is a broad as their contribution to the community. From community-based musical organizations, to education, athletics and health care. Their Fund is open to contributions at any time.
