The Jaxon Endowment Fund was created to honour the incredible legacy of Jaxon, who was born on Tuesday, June 27th, 2018. Jaxon spent the early months of his life wrapped in a special blanket inscribed with the words “brave, fighter, warrior, superhero” a testament to his resilient spirit. For 1,493 days, Jaxon was a little fighter and a true miracle, touching the hearts of everyone around him. He passed away peacefully in his mother’s arms, still wrapped in his special blanket, on Friday, July 29th, 2022, at BC Children’s Hospital.
Jaxon’s unique and vibrant personality brought joy and inspiration to all who knew him, even those who never had the chance to meet him in person. He was known for his smiles, giggles, dinosaur roars, growls, and heartfelt notes. Jaxon’s life, though short, had a profound impact, and his legacy continues to make a difference. His special equipment was donated to five other families, enhancing their lives, and proving that his influence extends beyond his physical presence.
Jaxon taught valuable lessons to everyone around him, from showing the importance of resilience and determination to teaching nurses and doctors the significance of seeing beyond clinical presentations. His unique spirit taught the importance of listening to families and valuing their insights about their children.
The Jaxon Endowment Fund has been established by his mother, Kayla and Grandparents Rod and Brandi Butts, with love and devotion to honour Jaxon’s legacy. The fund aims to create a community that offers accessibility to all children, supporting them in recreation, education, and sports.
Kayla’s dream for the fund’s future…
Jaxon’s Treehouse:
The primary goal of the endowment fund is to build Jaxon’s Treehouse, a sensory and accessible playground featuring a two-story wheelchair-accessible treehouse. This space will provide a safe and inclusive environment for all children to play, explore, and grow.
Annual Bursary:
The fund will support an annual bursary for a neurodivergent graduate from School District 83, helping them pursue continuing education. This initiative aims to empower and support students with unique needs, providing them with opportunities to further their education and achieve their goals.
Inclusive and Accessible Sports:
The endowment fund will promote inclusive and accessible sports programs, celebrating the fighting spirit and teamwork that Jaxon embodied. These programs will ensure that all children, regardless of their abilities, can participate in and enjoy the benefits of sports.
For Kayla, Jaxon’s mama, the Jaxon Endowment Fund is a deeply personal and heartfelt initiative. It is a way to honour her son’s extraordinary legacy and ensure that his spirit of resilience and joy continues to touch the lives of others. By supporting families and children through this fund, Kayla hopes to create lasting positive impacts, just as Jaxon did during his time with us. The fund represents love, dedication, and a commitment to making the world a more inclusive and supportive place for all children.
