CELEBRATING COMMUNITY SERVICE & IMPACT
At the Heart of the Shuswap Mixer on September 18, 2026, Shuswap Community Foundation recognized two outstanding individuals who have made a real impact in our region through their dedication to volunteering.
Adult Volunteer Award Winner:
Ted Danyluk
Ted Danyluk is the first recipient of our Heart of the Shuswap Adult Volunteer Award. The Adams River Salmon Society nominated Ted for his contributions to the society where he has volunteered for more than 15 years. Ted has made a difference in many ways, from demonstrating leadership with the Interpretive Guides program to successfully lobbying for provincial policy change to help protect salmon spawning grounds.
Ted’s volunteer work in the North Shuswap is extensive and encompasses multiple organizations including the North Shuswap Lions Club and the recently disbanded North Shuswap Disaster Relief Society that helped people recover from the devastating 2023 wildfire. His commitment to environmental stewardship, education, and community service is remarkable. Congratulations Ted!
Youth Volunteer Award Winner:
Melissa Neil
Melissa Neil was awarded the inaugural Heart of the Shuswap Youth Volunteer Award for her volunteer work at Shuswap Lake General Hospital. Her commitment to volunteering led to her recent nomination as a Youth Supervisor.
Melissa’s nominator, Monika Babcock, Coordinator of Volunteer Services at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, said, “Melissa’s strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and ability to connect with others have made a lasting impact on our programs.”
