MAJOR CAPITAL GRANT APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED YEAR-ROUND
Major Capital Grants $20K to $100K
The Shuswap Community Foundation’s new Major Capital Grant Program helps bring transformative community projects to life. By funding facility construction, major renovations, and essential equipment purchases, the program supports initiatives that create lasting benefits across the Shuswap. Focused on projects with broad community impact, it empowers local charities and qualified organizations to address emerging needs, strengthen community infrastructure, and expand opportunities for future generations. Through this investment in community-driven ideas, the Foundation continues its commitment to building a vibrant and resilient Shuswap.
Major Capital Grant Criteria:
Preference will be given to non-profits primarily operating in the Shuswap.
New non-charity organizations who have existed for less than a year will need to partner with a Charity with a similar purpose, to be considered for community or major capital grants.
The outcomes of the grant application must contribute to the well-being of residents of the Shuswap.
The Foundation will not support projects of a partisan, religious or political nature.
Demonstrate good planning, a firm case for financial support and sustainability.
The Foundation allows for a 10% maximum for overheads expenses (wages, admin etc.) as part of a Community Grant or Major Capital Grant.
The Foundation will not fund events outside of our Sponsorship Program.
The Foundation will not fund projects already underway.
Grant funds may not be used to retire debt.
National organizations may apply if they have a Shuswap chapter, which needs to be clearly stated in the application. Events need to be carried out entirely in the Shuswap, otherwise National organizations are not eligible for Community Grants, Capacity Building Grants or Major Capital Grants.
A Project Evaluation Report must be submitted to the Foundation prior to a new Grant Application.

The Shuswap Community Foundation Board and Grants Committee who live in our community decide which applications will get funding and distributes the funds to successful projects.
Lots of different ideas can get funded, with a focus on those that positively impact our community by addressing major issues and impacting a great number of people – or animals! A new van purchase, major equipment purchase like hospital or equipment required for delivering programs, playgrounds and more.
Applications are open year-round providing funding is still available. Retroactive funding is not available, so projects can start once the applicants have been notified that their application has been approved, which will happen 6 – 8 weeks after an application has been submitted. Projects must be completed within 2 years. Bi-annual reporting is required.
