Harlan Anderson and Eric Penner, partners at Salmon Arm accountancy firm Acuity Advisors LLP, both have three active kids that keep them very involved in youth sports. Having coached youth soccer, baseball and hockey, Harlan and Eric have seen first-hand the numerous benefits that sports programs offer children and youth.

In addition to physical health and development, participating in sports can help kids build confidence and develop life skills such as leadership and teamwork. There are also mental health benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety in young people. Involvement in sports, recreationally or competitively, can be an enriching and transformative experience for youth.

The cost of activities can add up quickly for families. Many youth sports associations do their best to keep programs affordable and accessible to everyone, but it can be challenging as costs continue to rise. Harlan and Eric launched the Acuity Advisors Youth Sport Endowment Fund as a way to offer financial support to local associations who are providing sports programs for children and youth in Salmon Arm.

About the Fund

Income available for distribution from the Acuity Advisors Youth Sport Endowment Fund, as determined by the directors of the Foundation, will be disbursed annually, at the discretion of the directors of the Foundation, to award one or more grants in the name of the Fund to youth sport focused charitable or community service not-for-profit organizations operating in the City of Salmon Arm.
