Community Caring for Community
This Agency Fund was established in October 2002 to allow donors to support the work of the Hospice Society. As this fund grows, the annual interest paid to the Society increases and provides a measure of financial stability over time.
Shuswap Hospice & Palliative Care Resource Centre provides a variety of programs and services to families throughout the Shuswap Region. It is a Wellness Centre focused on emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing that has served the community since March 1986.
Hospice provides an environment in which personal health care decisions are honoured and respected, and psychological, emotional, and spiritual support is provided for families. Hospice work also focuses on grief, either anticipatory or for the loss of a loved one. Grief comes in many forms and expressions; all are recognized.
Through actively listening, hearing their concerns, and helping them navigate this impactful phase of their life Hospice staff and volunteers guide individuals on their journey of reconnection and healing. Clients are helped to have the conversations with their loved ones that are so vitally important to acknowledge and understand end of life wishes.
Hospice is first about quality of life – to live well and then at the end of life to die with dignity and compassion, humour and laughter, and some tears.
It is important to note that all services and programs are offered free of charge. As a non-profit, volunteer-based organization Hospice depends on support from the community. The Shuswap Hospice Society Endowment Fund is open to donations.
